Fundação Gol de Letra is a non-profit civil society organization that was born from the dream of football world champions Raí and Leonardo to contribute to the education of children and young people from socially vulnerable communities, providing them with more opportunities and life prospects.
The initiative, which began 25 years ago with string instrument lessons for just 36 children in the founder's own auditorium, moved to a former juice factory before securing its own headquarters in the Heliópolis Community. In a 5,000 m² area, it annually serves more than 1,200 children and teenagers starting from the age of 4. It offers 18 early childhood music classes, 16 choirs, 44 group instrument classes, 78 active music professionals, over 200 students in individual instrument lessons, and 4 orchestras.
Vocação, formerly Ação Comunitária do Brasil, was founded in the 1960s by Francisco Matarazzo Sobrinho, Paulo Ayres Filho, Ruy Mesquita, and José Martins Pinheiro Neto, at a time when bold social projects did not exist in the country. In the 1970s, it established partnerships with neighborhood organizations and invested in the creation of pedagogical methodologies. In the following decades, it began offering comprehensive and integrated services with practices in Education, Health, and Culture.
